What is this all about?

Great Lakes Vegan Consulting is the brainchild of me, Stefan! He has lived in southeast Michigan most of his life. He adopted a vegan lifestyle in 2016 after months of curiosity and learning from close friends who were already vegan themselves. After learning about the cruelty involved in animal based foods, Stefan decided he couldn't turn a blind eye to it any more.

While his personal transition at home was fairly easy, he found eating out to be more of a challenge. Constantly scouring menus online before going out, asking agonizing questions at the restaurant, and having to send dishes back made dining out more of a stressful event than an enjoyable one. Most fellow vegan friends have had similar experiences when dining out. This made Stefan tend more towards vegan or vegetarian restaurants and eschew going to places that he knew it would be a hassle to eat. However, that really limited the number of places he could go, and he wished he could share more outings with friends and family who weren't necessarily also vegan. He also really missed some of the places he frequented before going vegan and wished they could veganize some of the dishes he really enjoyed.

With the explosive growth of veganism and plant-based eating in the last several years and realizing the potential to make a difference, Stefan got inspired to be the change he wishes to see. After visiting Aruba on vacation and learning about the wonderful work Vegan Hospitality had done with restaurants and hospitality companies there, he was inspired to do the same. Thankfully, they offered the Vegan Hospitality Consultant Training Program to help others like myself do just that.
